La Fiesta Derby
HIGH RATE OF MOTION

Making just his second start of the season, High Rate Of Motion earned his first stakes victory in the $145,043 La Fiesta Derby at Albuquerque
Downs on Sept. 23.
High Rate Of Motion went 440 yards in :21.396,
and his winning margin was a nose from fastest qualifier Jess Shantastic. G.R. Carter Jr. rode High Rate Of Motion for High Rate Partners 2017 and trainer Mike Joiner.
The seventh-fastest qualifier, High Rate Of Motion made his 2018 debut with a second-place finish under Carter in his trial on Sept. 7.
The $72,522 winner’s share of the purse boosted the gelding’s total lifetime earnings to $152,913, and he now has a race record of 8-3(1)-2-1(1), including a third place finish in the West Texas Juvenile Stakes last year. He was also a finalist in the Ruidoso Futurity-G1.
Dean Coop bred High Rate Of Motion out of Brimmers Motion, who won the 2010 Fair Meadows Juvenile and 2011 Miss Olene Handicap. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including winner Returning Motion, who was a finalist in the 2017 Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity-RG2. High Rate Of Motion is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Jess Shantastic (Fantastic Corona Jr-Jesses Candy) was second under Martin Bourdieu for owner Stanley Forbes and trainer Tony Sedillo. MAJOR BITES

Making his first official start in nearly six months, Major Bites scored his fourth stakes victory in the $70,000 First Moonflash Maturity at
The Downs at Albuquerque on Aug. 26.
Under Juan Pulido, Major Bites covered the 440
yards in wire-to-wire fashion in a time of :21.249, posting a 98 speed index. Jesus Carrete prepped Major Bites for owner Israel Bordier of El Paso, Texas.
The gelding brought home the $42,000 winner’s share of the purse, boosting his total lifetime earn- ings to $389,012 and record to 23-8(4)-4(2)-3(1).
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Major Bites has won eight of 23 starts, including three of five at the 440-yard distance.
Carrete Jr. indicated that Major Bites would be pointed to defend his title in the 440-yard, $170,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Cup Championship-RG1 this fall at Zia Park.
Carlos Paez bred Major Bites out of 2-time win- ner Dyna Mo Rime. She has produced three winners from six starters, including Dyna O Mite, who ran third in the 2015 By By JJ Stakes. Major Bites is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Mamacita Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel-Posies Woodette) finished second under Edgar Martinez for owner David Bloomer and trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.
Comin To Your Town (Jesse James Jr-BTB Express) and Federico Martinez ran third for owners Vanessa C. Hinostroza & Rogelio Carrasco Jr. and trainer Gaston Valenzuela.
Moon River (First Moonflash-A Medley Of Chicks), First Note Medley (First Moonflash-A Medley Of Chicks), Dungarees Version (Winners Version-Forty One Special), Gon In A Flash (First Moonflash-Meter Her Gone), RG Miracle (Hearts Miracle-Purple Ice TB) and Cinco Menudos (Jesse James Jr-Uno Menudo) completed the order of fin- ish. Balloon City Stakes
APOLLITICAL SCOUT

Apollitical Scout recorded her fourth stakes vic- tory in the $50,000 Balloon City Stakes at The Downs at Albuquerque on Sept. 9.
Under Jose Alvarez, the filly broke from the 7-post in second and quickly grabbed the lead by a head at the first call. They stayed there throughout, lengthen- ing their lead to cross the wire 2-lengths in front.
They completed the 400 yards in :19.220, post- ing a 99 speed index.
Apollitical Scout brought home the $30,000 winner’s share of the purse for owner Paragon Farms LLC and trainer James Padgett II, boosting her cumulative earnings to $384,600. She now has a race record of 18-7(4)-6(2)-1(1).
Apollitical Scout was extending her win streak to three, which includes a neck victory in the 400-yard $100,000 Junos Request Stakes-G2 at Remington Park on June 2.

out of 2006 Lazy E Futurity-RG2 finalist Swingin Cartel. She has produced 100% winners from four starters, including One Famous Swinger, winner of the 2015 O B Cockerell Handicap. Apollitical Scout is her second stakes winner and top earner.
Ms Fast Prize Tracy (Captain Courage-Fast Prize Tracy) and Alejandro Medellin were second for owner Melvin Neugebauer and trainer Wes Giles.
Neugebauer and Giles were also represented by One Famous Ribbon (One Famous Eagle-Fast Prize Ribbon), who ran third under Alfredo Sigala.
Pitchin Woo (FDD Dynasty-Southern Fast Lady), Everybuddys Talkin (Gonna Ro Sham Bo-Kat Kora), Sinsational Tacha (Tempting Dash-Miss Sin Tacha), Staggering Stride (Mr Jess Perry-Dinastia Toll BRZ), Pilota On Fire (Mr Piloto-Happier Hour), Hardtookiss (Hard Hitting-Tres Veses) and Coronas Dashin Injun (Fenimores Injun-Corona De Estrellas) completed the field.
