Four Forty Blast Handicap
ON OUR WAY

On Our Way’s first stakes victory came via the disqualification of CM Boom Shakalaka. The two finished a head apart in the $15,000 Four Forty
Blast Handicap at Los Alamitos on Aug. 17. Ridden by Cruz Mendez, On Our Way ran
second to CM Boom Shakalaka throughout the 350 yards. She was timed in :17.583 and earned a career- best 95 speed index.
The filly brought home the $8,250 winner’s share of the purse for owners Lazy Creek Ranch & Jerry McAlevey and trainer Jose Flores, boosting her total lifetime earnings to $62,969.
On Our Way finished second in the La Pacifica Handicap and third in the James S. Smith Memorial Handicap earlier this year and was a finalist in the 2017 Los Alamitos $2 Million Futurity-G1.
Steve Burns, DVM bred On Our Way out of 2013 Native Empress Handicap winner Attack The Cartel. She has produced 100% money earners from four starters, including 2016 Golden State Juvenile Stakes winner and top earner Attack The Wind. On Our Way is her second stakes winner.
Unblemished (Foose-Without Fault), ridden by Jesus Ayala, was 3rd and was moved to 2nd upon
the DQ for trainer Paul Jones, who owns him with Thompson Racing Inc. and Martha Wells. Steve Burns’ homebred Just Walk By (Walk Thru Fire-Babe On The Fly) ran 4th under Ruben Lozano and was moved to 3rd upon the DQ for trainer Mike Casselman.
Fyrefly Jo (Walk Thru Fire-Jenuine Joy) was moved to 4th from 5th, while CM Boom Shakalaka (Carters Cartel-Mi Fames A Dandy) was placed
5th. Yanque (Favorite Cartel-Red Hawk Chick) and Delight Won (One Famous Eagle-CC Delight) dead- headed for 6th and were followed by La Candidata (Foose-Kellys Cartel), Power Thinker (Walk Thru Fire-Separate Thoughts) & Effortless Effort (Favorite Cartel-Madonna Effort).
Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity
NIGHT FISHN

Night Fishn scored her first stakes victory in the $43,861 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity at Ajax Downs on Sept. 2.
Trained by Greg Watson and owned by Mary Schrama, Night Fishn made a clean break from the 7-post and put on pressure on the front-runners from the outside.
By the time Ghost Pines entered the stretch in the lead, Night Fishn was running in third. The filly then made her move, chasing down the competitors in front of her and beating Fiesty Icon to the wire by a head.
Jockey Corrine Andros was in the irons as the filly completed her 330-yard trip in :16.690, register- ing a career high 101 speed index while benefiting from a 26 mph tailwind.
This victory marked Night Fishn’s fourth time in the winner’s circle from seven starts. The $17,722 winner’s share of the purse boosted her total lifetime earnings to $35,812.
Schrama bred Night Fishn out of 2-time winner Fisher Lines, who was second in the 2011 Princess Stakes Derby. She has produced 100% winners from two starters, including top earner and 2017 Canada Hi-Point Aged Mare Ice Fishn, who won the 2015 Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity and placed third in the 2017 Ontario Sires Stakes Maturity.
Fiesty Icon (Sugarman Perry-Fiesty Spirit) was second under Tony Phillips for owner/trainer Richard Kennedy.
Albertt (Mr Jess Tex-Squincheyes) and Cassandra Jeschke were third for owner/trainer Scott Reid.
Ice Witch (Iced N Oak-The Witching Hour), Ghost Pines (Fire Finder-Quick Six Lady), Sugarmans Delight (Sugarman Perry-Wonders Delight), Home To Vegas (Down Home Dash-Cash Into Vegas), Ice N Snow (Iced N Oak-Victorious Snow) and Sweet Pagrana (Winners Award-Lady Pagrana) completed the order of finish.
Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity
USAIN COLT

Usain Colt proved best in the $50,514 Ontario Sires Stakes Futurity at Ajax Downs on Aug. 26. Ridden by Cassandra Jeschke, Usain Colt broke
out at the start and found himself in last place early. The gelding hit his best stride in the stretch and mowed down his eight rivals to defeat fastest quali- fier Carlos The Second by 3/4-length.
Usain Colt stopped the timer for 330 yards in :17.260, earning an 83 speed index. Trainer Scott Reid co-owns Usain Colt with John McCracken.
With the the first win of his career, Usain Colt picked up the winner’s check of $20,206, boosting his total lifetime earnings to $20,822.
The colt’s only other start was in the Aug. 5 trials where he finished with the fourth fastest qualifying time.
Four Leaf Racing bred Usain Colt out of 4-time winner Magic Ta Fame, full sister to 2-time New Track Record setter and stakes winner Touched By The Moon. Magic Ta Fame has produced 100% winners from three winners, including Canada Hi-Point Three-Year-Old Gelding Arctic Fame, who finished third in the 2014 Ontario Sires Stakes Derby. Usain Colt is her first stakes winner.
Carlos The Second (Winners Award-Chitchatin Okie) finished second under Corrine Andros for owner Heste Sport Inc. and trainer Jason Pascoe.
Shake It Twice (Look At Magics Form-Shake Pretty Baby) and Cory Spataro were third for owner/ trainer Chantelle Bourgeois.
Queens Award (Winners Award-Copper State Queen), Perrfunnysteven (Sugarman Perry-Go Smashing Baby), Hanover Hill Dashing (Sugarman Perry-Dash to the Hilt), All Night Loong (El Night Shift-All Wacked Out), Show Them A Moonie (Five Finder-Streakin Centerfols) and A Fancy Arrangement (Sugarman Perry-Jesshazoom) completed the order of finish. Elizabeth Royal scratched.
