TF Shez Jess Dashin has demonstrated a world of promise in her four career starts, and the gray filly confirmed her precocious- ness with a scintillating New Track-Record performance in winning the $339,931 Lassie Futurity-RG2 at Delta Downs on May 17.
Ridden by regular rider Everado Rodriguez, TF Shez Jess Dashin broke alertly in the 330-yard Lassie and raced in second position early. She dueled the length of the lane with Fast Dash Hondo Cat and Rolando Pina, eventually surging to the lead and shak- ing loose of her rivals to win by 3/4-length as the 2-1 second choice in the wagering.
She stopped the timer in a blazing :16.174, eclipsing Bradys March Madness’ track record of :16.337 set in 2013. The winner’s final time earned a speed index of 113.

Jess Dashin is now a winner in three of four lifetime starts for owner Down South Racing LLC. The $169,965 winner’s share of the purse increased her bankroll to $232,666.
Tate Farms bred TF Shez Jess Dashin out of lightly raced Jess Ought To Go Now. She has produced 100% money earners from 12 starters. TF Shez Jess Dashin is her third stakes winner. The Lassie winner was bought for $38,000 at the LQHBA Yearling Sale. The
mare’s other stakes win- ners include Jess Ought To Flash, winner of the 2008 Zia Derby-G2 and Poison Sumac, winner of the 2009 West Texas Juvenile Stakes.
“We bought the mare
(Jess Ought To Go Now)
with the intent of breeding
her to Sir Runaway Dash to
get that cross,” stated Steve
Tate of Tate Farms. My
dad and I went to the sale
together to purchase her. It’s a cross that defi- nitely works. To come up with a horse like this was the plan all along. It’s a special feeling.”
Tate indicated they have a yearling full sis- ter out of the mare and a weanling 3/4-sibling.
Trainer Nason Eschete sent out the runner-up, Fast Dash Hondo Cat (AJS Fast Dash-Who Dat Hondo Cat TB). The chest- nut filly turned in a splendid performance, finishing in second place with a final time
of :16.316. The Jeff Pope trainee, who was perfect in two career tries prior to the Lassie, earned a speed index of 109 for her game performance. She was bred in Louisiana by William Meaux and was a $8,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate.
Lifeinthefastlanes
(Jess Louisiana Blue- Pantherinthefastlane) and jockey David Alvarez rallied late to finish third for owner Jason Richards and Michael Leblanc and trainer Kenneth Roberts Sr. Lifeinthefastlanes won her trial heat by a domi- nating 2 3/4-lengths in her career debut. She recorded
a career-high speed index of 108 in the race, finishing
just a head behind the runner-up. She was bred in Louisiana by Wade and Kay Loup Jr.
Fastest qualifier HH Gailforce (Freighttrain B-Open My Prize), undefeated in three prior outings, drifted out in the lane but rallied gamely to finish fourth under Luciano Duenez for Egoizzta Partnership and trainer Joel Cantu.
Shes a Cartel (Five Bar Cartel-Carry
On Baby), Ms Diamond Prize (Fast Prize Jordan-Ms Diamond Oak), Boobookitty (Jumpn Chic-YB Crown Me Now), Blues Fortune (Jess Louisiana Blue-Cartels Fortune), and Angel Tough (Freighttrain B-Mill Creek Switch) completed the order of finish. Fast Prize Jessica was scratched.
