TIFFANYS SPARKLE
by Danny Camp
Where does the sky start? What does a rainbow taste like? What color is the wind? Questions like this are hard to answer. Well, the sky starts under your feet, a rainbow tastes like Skittles, and the Colors of the Wind is a 350-yard Paint & Appaloosa race at Retama Park worth $15,000. It was Tiffanys Sparkle that out shone the rest in this contest, which ran Aug. 1, and she made it look easy. The 7-year-old Paint mare broke from the 6-post in the middle of the pack and had to make up ground. Luis Ramirez was in the irons and he impressed upon her the urgency of the situation and she responded well. The mare dueled with her competition to the wire and pushed on for a 1/2-length win in :18.232.
The $8,250 winner’s share takes her bank to $68,012 in Paint & Quarter Horse competition, includ- ing a 2nd in last year’s GCFA P&A Maturity and a 3rd in the 2014 Colors of the Wind Stakes. She’s won her last 3 and 6 of her last 8. Tiffanys Sparkle, who was the 2013 & 2014 APHA Champion Claiming Horse, is owned
by Kathy Robinson, trained by R. L. Robinson, and was bred by Oyana Wilson out of Quarter Horse winner Smashed N Tiffanys. The mare has produced 4 Quarter Horse & Paint money earners, including stakes placed winner Start A Commotion. Tiffanys Sparkle is her only Paint and is her top earner & first stakes winner.
2014 APHA World Champion Running Paint Texas Silk (Texas Six-Judys Silk) was 2nd under Jesus Salazar for Charles R. Leggett & trainer Dee Kenner. Wb Valentina (Pyc Paint Your Wagon-Moonpie Marauder) was 3rd under Francisco Calderon for Wendell Blankenship & trainer Gary Jacobs. Followed by Runaway Pecosa (Mr Streakaway-La Pecosa), Cat Scratch Dash (Country Quick Dash-Cat Scratch Fefurr), Maddies Rare Corona (Little Corona-A Rare Gem), Camo Cowgirl (Awesome Chrome-Dial Judy), Sis B Grand (Sis B Gol-Shawnee Point), D D Phemister (Dos Poruno-Glendas Flashy Cash) & U Belive Me Now (Awesome Chrome-Mt Shez Younique).

MACIES DOS PORUNO
By Danny Camp
What color is the Alamo? It’s the color of bravery. Just like the men who fought to the death there, Macies Dos Poruno showed that kind of bravery in the 350-yard $19,500 Colors of the Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity at Retama Park on Aug. 1.
Macies Dos Poruno, a 2-year-old sorrel overo Paint colt, got away from 8-post in the middle of the pack. He seemed to have his back to the wall, with the field getting the jump on him as he raced several lengths behind the leader at the first call. At the top of the stretch, he was in fourth, but gaining, and then with a late driving rush, he stuck his nose in front at the wire.
Juan Garcia Jr. was in the saddle making sure his mount stayed courageous despite the obstacles, and they stopped the clock at :18.381 for the colt’s first stakes victory. With the $11,115 first place check, Macies Dos Poruno has now earned a total of $17,158. His race record is two wins out of four tries, with his additional win coming in his previous out before the Colors of the Alamo in a maiden race in May at Remington Park.
Macies Dos Poruno is bred/owned by George S. Dennison, and Clinton Crawford is the trainer. The colt was bred in Oklahoma out of Snow Me The Paddick, who earned over $30,000 winning 2 stakes including the Grade 1 Spots N Dots Stakes. The mare has pro- duced 2 money earners from as many starters. Macies Dos Poruno is her top earner and first stakes winner.
Sturgis (Dos Poruno-Biker Chick) was 2nd under Jesus Salazar for owner Paint Horse Queens & trainer Dee Keener. Train Wreck (Freighttrain B-R Ms Kitty), was 3rd under Eddie Martinez for owner Jeff Adams & trainer Dee Keener. Followed by Choice Of The Harem (Concho Special-Especially Choice), Hez Scootin (Hiclass La Jolla-Dial Judy), Miss Goodyear (Sm Country Snowman-Moonpie Marauder), Political Upheaval (Country Quick Dash-Judy Janise), Jacie
J (Dos Poruno-Judys Cash) & Caleb Reed (Intrinsic Value-Bat Them Eyes). Vp Quick Winner scratched.

KR STREAKIN VERSION
by Michael Compton
Marvin Christensen and Richard Aldoff’s KR Streakin Version, or “Streaky” as he is known to his connections, notched his third consecutive win
easily dispatching five rivals in the $29,926 Zoetis Evergreen Distance Challenge at Grande Prairie in Alberta, Canada, on Aug. 1. Fresh off two straight allowance scores, KR Streakin Version made short work of his foes in the Zoetis Evergreen Distance Challenge, winning by 2 3/4-lengths under Tyler Walker.
The 7-year-old gelding stopped the timer in a lively :45.100 for 870 yards, earning a lofty 106 speed index. The clocking just missed Tough Mix’s :44.930 record set in 2008. KR Streakin Version’s win boosted his bankroll to $50,367 and improved his slate to 25-8-3-2. He also earned a berth in the $100,000 Nov. 7 Zoetis Distance Challenge Championship at Lone Star Park.
This was the second stakes win at Grande Prairie for KR Streakin Version, who also annexed the Evergreen Park Championship Challenge at the track in 2013. With that win, the gelding qualified to and was a finalist that year’s AQHA Challenge Championship-G1 at Los Alamitos.
Hermstead, Perry and Kyler bred KR Streakin Version, who is the only starter out of the unraced mare Streakin Miss Tina.
Trainer Allen Goodsell saddled the winner, as well
as KR Howdoyoulikemenow (Scrutinizer-KR Check
Me Out), who was 2nd under Jose Rocha and who
also races for Christensen & Aldoff. Dream Catch Her (Snowbound TB-Counting the Dreams) was 3rd, but was DQ’d and placed 5th for interference after drifting out around the turn, moving Rigetti Farms’ Glittering Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Glitter Galore) & Deanne Davies’ Asbigastexas (Birdzilla TB-Sables Val) into a dead-heat for the show spot. William Leach trains Glittering Blue who had Ricardo Moreno aboard, while Angelle Carter sent out Asbigastexas with jockey Ramiro Castillo. Followed by Fifty (Promised Class-Bubbles La Jolla).
