Bred in Texas by Bobby Cox, Ezee Monee is produced from the Corona Cartel mare Cartel Regards, and was a $40,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate. Cartel Regards was a Remington Park Oklahoma Bred Futurity finalist in 2012.
Runner-up Sweet Emylou (FDD Dynasty-Imaqtpie) and jockey Bryan Candanosa flashed speed away from the gate and showed the way early. They filly finished gamely but could not match strides with the winner late and finished second for owners Alfredo Casso and Christine Asmussen and trainer John Stinebaugh. The sorrel filly was bred in Missouri by Jim Streelman and Bill Dale. Fourth in the All American Juvenile and the Texas Classic Juvenile last year at two, Sweet Emylou has banked $130,537 in 10 lifetime starts.
Fastest qualifier Fearless Moon (First Moonflash-Heartbeat) and jockey Sergio Becerra Jr. finished third after bumping at the start. A Kentucky homebred for Gentry Farms, Fearless Moon, like the second-
place finisher, is also conditioned. by John Stinebaugh. The filly was a finalist in the Los Alamitos Oaks-G1 and Heritage Place Oaks.
