ONE SWEET SUGAR

In the $624,792 Lee Berwick Futurity-RG1, the featured event on Louisiana Showcase Night at Delta Downs on July 15, One Sweet
Sugar swept to her fourth consecutive victory with a furious rally in the 350-yard dash.
Ridden by Jasiel Aquino, One Sweet Sugar brushed after the start and drifted in soon after the start, while chasing early leader and odds-on favorite San Lorenzo Blood.
One Sweet Sugar rallied with determination through the lane, collared San Lorenzo Blood in the late stages, and surged to the front to prevail by a head over Eyesa Freighttrain B at the wire.
In winning her fourth straight race, One Sweet Sugar stopped the timer in :17.665 and earned a speed index of 89.
“We are proud of Jasiel, who has been working horses for us on the farm,” said owner/ breeder Rogelio Marquez Jr. “After riding One Sweet Sugar in her trial, he told me this filly would change his life.”
