Separate Butallright, in winning the July 22 Speedhorse Futurity-G3, gave trainer Samuel Valdivia a victory in one of the three
races that are very special to him.
“The three futurities that I wanted to win
in my life so bad were the Speedhorse, Blue Ribbon, and Heritage Place,” Valdivia said.
The trainer is based in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and he still misses Blue Ribbon Downs.
“I qualified for the Blue Ribbon several times but never won it,” Valdivia said. “Those three futurities were really special to me. I was born in Mexico, but I’ve been living in Sallisaw all my life.”
Separate Butallright has been perfect since Valdivia began training her and racing her at Fair Meadows in Tulsa.
She started twice at Remington Park, getting a second. Then she scored by 1 1/4-lengths in her first Fair Meadows outing, a maiden event.
Valdivia put L Salvador Martinez aboard the filly in that race for the first time, and that combination also succeeded in the Speedhorse
