Hurricane Awareness: Make A Plan, Build A Kit, Be Informed!


               As hurricane season approaches, it’s vital for Caroline County residents to be ready to face potential storms head-on. From
               June 1 to November 30 each year, our coastal region faces an increased risk of hurricanes and tropical storms. Here are some
               tailored tips to help you stay prepared and protected:

               1.  Know Your Timeline: Hurricane season o cially spans from June 1 to November 30. Understanding this timeframe enables

                   you to plan and prepare well in advance, reducing last-minute stress.
               2.  Plan Your Escape Route: Get acquainted with the designated hurricane evacuation routes in Caroline County. Should
                   evacuation orders be issued, knowing where to go could be a lifesaver.


               3.  Assemble Your Survival Kit: Put together a disaster supply kit with essentials such as  ashlights, batteries, cash,  rst aid


                   supplies, and copies of important documents. Having these items on hand can o er comfort and security during uncertain
                   times, especially if evacuation becomes necessary.
               4.  Prepare for Power Outages: Even if you choose to stay put, be prepared for potential power and water outages. Stock up on
                   non-perishable food, water, and other essentials to sustain yourself and your family for several days.
               5.  Communication is Key: Develop a family emergency communication plan tailored to Caroline County. Ensure everyone
                   knows how to stay connected during the chaos of a hurricane. Establish meeting points and designate an out-of-town con-
                   tact person for coordination.
               6.  Stay Informed: Sign up for Caroline County’s Emergency Alert System through Everbridge. Receive timely updates and
                   instructions from local authorities to stay informed and prepared for any developments.
