The accuracy of molten aluminium temperature is essential to produce a good
casting product. The solubility of hydrogen gas in molten aluminium is higher as the
melting temperature increases. Over-exposure of hydrogen gas on molten
aluminium immediately forms a skin of aluminium Oxide, Al2O3 that causes
drawbacks of mechanical properties in final casting such as shrinkage, gas porosity
and oxide inclusions. Therefore, the melting temperature of aluminium should be
kept as low as possible to minimize the hydrogen pick-up. Dip Immersion Probe
(DIP) is designed to control the hydrogen gas solubility in aluminium by optimizing
its melting temperature before the casting process. DIP consists of a couple of
Nickel-Chromium (NiCr) and Nickel-Aluminium (NiAl) wires that are attached to a
pyrometer and calibrated with a sensor of -270 °C to 1260 °C range and in an L-
Shape with 135o to ensure the ergonomic and safety of the user. Inconel 600
sheath material is used as an outer metal to provide good high-temperature
strength, resists chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking and minimizes oxidation at
high temperatures. The DIP provides the students with a good understanding of the
melting and pouring activities besides providing a good achievement over practical
tasks. DIP is cost-effective, reliable, safe and ergonomic especially for the teaching
and learning process of small-scale casting activity in the Foundry Workshop, as
well as Technical and Vocational Education
and Training (TVET) in Polytechnic Malaysia.

FUN LEARNING SEJARAH (FLS)

Inovasi FLS (Fun Learning Sejarah) dilaksanakan bagi membantu murid Tingkatan
4 meminati subjek Sejarah selain menambahkan pengetahuan mereka melalui
media pembelajaran interaktif. Murid sering beranggapan subjek Sejarah
merupakan subjek yang membosankan disebabkan oleh fakta yang banyak dan
padat serta kebergantungan dengan penggunaan buku teks sahaja. Oleh itu,
inovasi FLS telah dijalankan ke atas murid Tingkatan 4 di mana inovasi ini
mempunyai himpunan pelbagai media pembelajaran interaktif seperti video
Youtube, latihan Quizizz, permainan Wordwall, buku teks digital Sejarah KSSM
Tingkatan 4 serta nota-nota berbentuk slaid yang digabungkan dalam satu laman
interaktif dinamakan Thinglink. Inovasi ini merupakan inovasi pengajaran
menggunakan bahan bantu media pembelajaran interaktif agar murid lebih tertarik
untuk menjalani aktiviti pembelajaran sambil meneroka bahan-bahan yang terdapat
dalam Thinglink tersebut. Kajian ini telah dilaksanakan ke atas murid Tingkatan 4 di
sebuah sekolah daerah Subis dengan menggunakan inovasi FLS. Hasil kutipan
data dan analisis menunjukkan inovasi FLS berupaya menarik minat terhadap
