Coalition to lobby the National Assembly Standing Committee on this matter, in case there are areas for improvement on the draft Bill,
though noting that the Bill was drafted with support from the UNODC and addresses many of the issues with the previous bill tabled in
2012.
Mr. Yirah Mansaray from UNDP made remarks on the nexus between the Access of Information and Anti-Corruption Bill, stating
that they are not mutually exclusive but rather mutually reinforcing. This he explained, was because corruption cannot be fought, or
accountability cannot be upheld with transparency or access to information. Thus, he urged, that Government and its partners, including
civil society, should ensure that the interlinkages between the two Bills are understood and applied on a policy level.
G. Implementation of recommendations from transitional justice mechanisms
The Solicitor General explained that the Government was seriously considering options on the implementation of TRRC
recommendations, noting that it is anticipated that a follow-up mechanism would be established if no other existing institutions are able
to deliver on the implementation of certain recommendations. Specifically, on prosecutions, the Government continues to engage with
experts in this field as it embarks on devising the most efficient mechanism on prosecutions, whether national, international or hybrid in
nature.
