          Reading Coordinator, Sorors Joan Washington and 1  Anti-Basileus Mozelle Anderson collected 1300 signatures for Read Across NSPDK.
          Soror Washington and Soror Parker participated in World Read Aloud Day at McCullough Academy by reading to students.
          The chapter has teachers that work in collaboration with other agencies and organizations to provide opportunities for education, events and
          programs. Sorority members partner with The Gary Literacy Coalition to provide and coordinate the accessibility of literacy opportunities
          through the cooperation of its members. Two Sorors serve as Coalition representatives to the Board of Directors from others agencies.
          Additionally, Beta Mu Chapter members are affiliated with the local and state reading associations. Officers and Beta Mu members, attend
          meetings to plan statewide reading activities and conferences. Meetings and activities are held throughout the year. Also, “book give-a-ways”
          were held in conjunction with Teach-A-Rama and other school functions. Books were available during the Health Fair section of the Teach-A-
          Rama Program.

          Professor Mausiki Scales, an instructor in the African American Studies Department at Georgia State University, was the keynote speaker. He
          provided a historical overview of the African Male and the Power of Voting. The audience was actively involved throughout his power point
          presentation. The President of the Xinos and the President of the Kudos introduced the speaker. Kudos Maxwell Ross provided a saxophone
          solo. Xinos Deverieux Coleman presented an excellent review of BLACK HISTORY.

          Sorors receive assistance with using social media and other computer skills during meetings and as needed. Sorors are encouraged to post up-to-
          date announcements and events on the chapter’ Face Book page and GroupMe. Sorors are also encouraged to check emails and messages daily as
          well as the national website (nspdk.org). Soror Leslie Green has agreed to provide monthly technology sessions on specific technology needs.
