            Beta Mu Chapter members work in collaboration with schools, other agencies, and organizations to provide opportunities for early
            childhood education events and programs. (In-school readiness and reading intervention programs, book give-a-ways for families, guest
            readers, reading activities, and parent trainings). More, specifically, many sorors participated in the Gary Reading Council Annual
            Programs. Additionally, Beta Mu Sorors collected and donated 100 pairs of socks, clothing, and outerwear across the community.

            The 34  Annual Teach-A-Rama Luncheon was held on November 2, 2019 at the Avalon Manor. Among our guests were Educational Administrators,
            teachers, clergy, community leaders, Anthropos, Xinos/Kudos, parents, and guest. We had a Mini-Health Fair that provides information on Diabetes, Skin
            Care, and Sickle Cell. Nail and hand messages were provided by five Gary Career Center students and teacher. A Book Giveaway was sponsored by Gary
            Literacy Coalition and a Vendor Marketplace offered various apparel and jewelry.

            Our keynote speakers were Nakia Douglass, Gary Community School Assistant Superintendent and Dr. Peter Morikis, District Emergency Manager. The
            following awards were presented at the Luncheon: Distinguished Educator Award: Dwight Pointer; Community Citation Award: Vernon Williams. The First
            Omnibus Award for Outstanding Leadership  and Service to the people of Gary was presented to Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson. Soror Joan Washington
            was awarded Soror of the Year.

            Kudos Maxwell Ross and Xinos Sabriya Dixon displayed their artistic talent. Sorors who participated on program were Onitta Parker,
             Shirley Thomas, Mozelle Anderson, Sadie Ethridge, Nora Robbs, Delores Gibson, Mary Williams, and Florine Lacefield.
             Sorors Ruth Walker, Daisy Purnell (Host Committee Chair), and Anne Thompson (Charter Member) severed as Co-Chairs

            Internal Structure and Leadership Budgeting Workshops were led by Tamiochous, Soror Nora
            Robbs for YES Committee Chairs throughout the year. Protocol Sessions are coordinated
            monthly to review MOPP, Constitutional and Bylaws as well as discuss steps and importance
            for completing accurate and timely reports.

           Articles are submitted for publishing after each event. Currently, many articles have been published in the local newspapers. The Yuletide
           Scholarship Ball and African American History Program are viewed on the local cable network on continuous rotation.
