NUMBER OF SORORS: 15 NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 26
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY: Please type below.
Gamma Delta's Literacy program takes place monthly at Aldridge Place, a low income housing project. We hold themed monthly literacy
activities for the children there. In October we decorated pumpkins, did a math literacy activity and had storytime. On November 16,
2019 we held a book read and signing with a local author, Mrs. Latashia Perry. Mrs. Perry's books inspire children of color to embrace
and love their true selves. Each child in attendance received a signed book by the author. These books were purchased by the sorors.
We had 26 children in attendance and several parents as well. In December we baked and decorated Christmas cookies, read Christmas
stories and made candy canes. The children are still utilizing and enjoying the reading nook we have set up in the Community Room.
The books are changed out periodically. We plan to continue building relationships with the families at Aldridge Place.
