Part I: Chapter 1 ‐ It takes two to tango

(Self-)reflection: How to improve your self-
knowledge and knowledge of human nature

In addition to the tools I will describe in a moment, it is the (self-
)reflection that contributes to the increase of your self-knowledge
and knowledge of human nature. I would even like to claim that
matching as well as self- and people-knowledge are worth less
without the ability of (self-)reflection, because only with this it is
possible to draw the necessary conclusions from your observations
of your own and others' behavior. Reflexivity helps you to free
yourself from an egocentric point of view and to change your
perspective, which enables you to look at things from other angles
and to judge them, to enter the world of imagination and perception
of other people and to find out what makes these people tick and
                               what really moves them.
To illustrate how (self-)reflection and self-knowledge as well as
knowledge of human nature are interrelated and positively influence
your matching competence, I now ask you to look at the six
motivators or drivers that determine or at least influence our actions.
When answering the question why we behave the way we do, at
least three aspects play a role:

                                                                          © INSIGHTS MDI® 2023
