FINDING THE RIGHT EMPLOYEES

                 SKILLS VERSUS ATTITUDE:
                 A STORY FROM FRANK
The belief that people are “hired for skills and fired
for attitude” holds true. In Germany, the trend
to hire based on technical skills and past experience

is still prevalent. This approach led us astray a few
years back with a management position within our
company. We placed too much emphasis on the can-
                 didate’s technical abilities.

The candidate was a seasoned manager from an-
other training company who was well versed in the
industry. We employed her through a reputable

Munich recruitment agency, which influenced our
decision. However, when we began working to-
gether, it became clear that her values were not
aligned with ours. Despite conducting an evalua-
tion with TTI Success Insights, we overlooked the
findings, swayed by her extensive experience and
our commitment to the headhunter. Ultimately,

we disregarded our instincts, a decision we later
regretted. It turned out that following the ana-
lytical results would have been the wiser choice. The
mismatch in values and behavior led to us parting
                 ways with the manager.
