SOLAR ENERGY EXPERIENCE
GILA BEND UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
SOLAR INSTALLATION
The Gila Bend Unified School District Solar Installation project included the new
construction of a 711 kilowatt photovoltaic solar array system on the campus of
Gila Bend Elementary School located in Gila Bend, Arizona. The facility functions
as a clean and reusable energy source for the school. The solar photovoltaic array
system was constructed on a parking canopy structure utilizing a cast-in-place
concrete foundation, structural steel framing, asphalt paving, cold forced steel with
corrosion resistant coating, low voltage electrical power conductors and cables,
and grounding and bonding of electrical circuits. The project also featured a new
inverter, which converts solar energy from direct current solar panels into alternating
current and distributes the electrical energy to the service entrance section of the
school. Due to CORE’s energy construction expertise, the Gila Bend Unified School
District Solar Installation project now generates greater cost-effective energy for
school use.
