The great outdoors
Many scenic hiking trails meandering through Hong Kong’s country parks offer a great escape from busy city life.
v The MacLehose Trail - a 100km trail running east-west across mountains, valleys and beaches in the New Territories. (Listed on National Geographic's “World’s Best Hikes: 20 Dream Trails”);
v The Dragon's Back on Hong Kong Island - voted as Asia’s “Best Urban Hike” by Time (Asia) magazine;
v The Lantau Trail - a 70km circular trail, traversing mountains, valleys, forests, streams, waterfalls and old villages on Lantau Island
Wetland Park
The 61-hectare Hong Kong Wetland Park in the New Territories is a recreated wetland habitat for water birds and other wildlife.
v Home to many varieties of butterflies, dragonflies, amphibians, reptiles, fish, crabs, mudskippers and celebrity crocodile “Pui Pui”;
v World-class eco-park featuring many of Hong Kong’s native flora and fauna in a natural setting;
v International awards won on architecture and landscape design include the prestigious Global Award for Excellence from the Urban Land Institute in the US.
