Be Professional

Be courteous and professional to everyone, but not friendly. Also, stay humble and remember that you
never know when you might have to defend yourself against someone you meet. However, apply
common sense too. The female in the minivan full of groceries and kids is probably not going to try to
kill you, at least not on that day. It’s okay to be confident but being arrogant or cocky will just create
problems for you. Often, it’s our mouths that can get us in the most trouble.

Don’t let negative attitudes from your co-workers get you down. Remember that every profession and
organization has its own set of problems. Somewhere there are officers that have it much harder than
you and probably do it for less money. Form your own opinions about issues, don’t rely on those from
               others.

Give violators a citation or a lecture, but not both. Giving both is just asking for a complaint.
