What is the shortest route to scene from here?

Tactical parking?

Do you call for a cover?
Do you clear the building first or walk it with the victim?

Look for vehicle tracks or footprints?

Who processes the scene? You? Crime scene unit?

What was the point of entry? Exit?

How did the suspects leave? Foot? Vehicle?

Do you dust for prints? Where?
If electronic equipment was stolen, dust the electrical socket area where they unplugged the item.

Collect additional evidence such as gloves or tools left behind.

Do you get a statement?

Did the victim have workers over? Did he recently have any workers at the home?

Has the victim recently seen anything strange?

Does the victim owe anyone money?
Who else lives there? Who else has keys to the home?

Did anyone have permission to come get the television?

What other items were taken?

Get values and good descriptions of all items.

Serial numbers or markings of stolen items?
Pictures? How do you start photographing the scene?

Does the victim wish to press charges?

After processing the scene, do you canvas the neighborhood?

Speak with possible witnesses? On the way to burglary in progress calls, record any vehicles you see
driving away and read the license plates on camera. If the vehicle matches the description of the suspect
vehicle or appears to be leaving the area in a hurry, can you and should you stop it?

Interview neighbors or area businesses.
