activities in Malayalam in the State. A meeting was held in Kochi with representatives of variousorganisations,educationists,andmedia representatives. They also deliberated on how to strengthen the science communication and science popularisation in Malayalam in the State. It was discussed to bring out a newsletter called Shastra Katha on Science Communication. It was proposed to commission 20 original books in Malayalam on various thrust areas, original popular science articles for school children, translation of Vigyan Prasar’s content in Malayalam including Dream 2047.
Science Communication Training
VP embarked upon human resource development and a programme to nurture science communicators in various Indian
languages with potential stakeholders such as students from institution of higher learning, journalists, mass media students, voluntary agencies/NGOs, etc. A draft syllabus and content and course materials were developed for the same.
Three-month-long science communication course: Indian Science News Association, Kolkata and Vigyan Prasar organised a three-month-long training programme on Science Communication and Media Practice 2019. The course was conducted between June 2019 and September 2019. After an entrance test students were enrolled. As part of the training programme, in addition to classroom lectures, five workshops, eight field visits, and four meet-the-scientists programme were arranged.
