• Be prepared for isolation at the premises. Ensure that emergency equipment and supplies are available,
		 or can be readily obtained.

III. Chemical, Biological, or Radiological Procedure
The purpose of the Chemical, Biological, or Radiological Procedure is to inform employees and visitors of the
steps that should be taken in the event that a contaminant, virus, or other harmful agent poses an immediate
threat.
	 • Call 911 and report the situation.
	 • Notify managers, Human Resources, or other appropriate authority immediately.
	 • Commence evacuation procedures.
IV. Structural Failure Procedure
The purpose of this procedure is to inform employees or visitors of precautions to be taken in the event of a
structural failure.
	 • In the event of a power outage, gather flashlights and other needed supplies. Check on all employees
and visitors to ensure their safety. Ensure all backup or emergency lighting is fully operational. If the
power outage is prolonged, consult with managers to consider dismissing employees for the day.
	 • In the case of water, heat, or other utility disruptions, all attempts will be made to determine the cause
of the disruption and the probable length of shutdown. If the shutdown is prolonged, consult with
managers to consider dismissing employees for the day.
V. Power Outages
	 • If there is loss of outlet power, not lights, etc., remain calm and in place.
	 • In the event the building sustains a power failure, emergency lighting is available in the stairwells and
common area hallways, and flashlights are provided throughout the buildings.
	 • Unplug all electrical equipment and turn off light switches. When the power returns, it may surge and
damage equipment that was left on prior to the outage.
	 • If evacuation is necessary, evacuate to your designated area as described in the Building Evacuation
		 Procedures (see the following page).
	 • If it is necessary to close the building, management will close the office after two (2) hours of lost power.
Management will:
	 • Make a building-wide announcement to provide further instructions.
	 • Assist the Fire and Police departments in their emergency response.
	 •	Evacuate and close the building until power is restored if it is known that the power outage will
continue for an extended period of time.
	 • In the case of outages over two (2) hours, all building entrance key fobs will not work, in that event,
all management and maintenance personnel have been provided keys to the building.
	 •	In case of outages of over two (2) hours in winter months, the dry sprinkler system will need to be
checked. The line feeding the dry system in the attic needs to be shut off first, and then the drain must be
opened. The valves are located at #6, upstairs above the reception area. ADT must also be called to put
Zone 1 of the system on test until the power is restored. As soon as power is restored and air pressure
regained (35–50 psi), the drain can be closed first, then the valve to feed the dry system may be opened
		slowly.
