Diabetic Clarity

Type II diabetes symptoms gradually appear while type 1 diabetes
               quickly develop.

               How Do Doctors Diagnose Diabetes?

Doctors will use all kinds of tests to diagnose diabetes, including:

                   • Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) test
                   • Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT)

The random plasma glucose test lets doctors learn if their patients has
diabetes. If any test reveals possible diabetes, the doctor will do a
repeat fasting plasma glucose or oral glucose tolerance test another
               day to confirm their diagnosis.

Since type II diabetes is commonly seen in older individuals and
overweight individuals, people who are 45 years old and older should
be tested annually for diabetes. This is especially true if a person is
               older than 45 and overweight/obese.

Diabetes is a very serious disease that leads to disability, pain and
death – some people have symptoms but never suspect they have
diabetes. And, since they don’t feel symptomatic, they never get a
               check-up.

Although there is a risk for diabetes due to weight and age, people
never get tested. And, undiagnosed diabetes can lead to serious health
               complications such as death.

Most times, people don’t get diagnosed until they suffer from the other
serious health problems such as difficulty seeing, blurriness and heart
               problems.

However, with regular check-ups and early detection, you can stop the
               complications before they occur.
