Muscular Dystrophies
They are a group of muscle diseases characterized by four obligatory criteria:
Primary myopathy.
Progressive.
Genetic basis.
Characteristic muscle fiber degeneration and muscle cell death at some stage.
Classification:
Pelvic girdle type: pseudohypertrophic types → duchenne and becker.
Shoulder girdle type: Scapulohumeral or scapuloperoneal.
Limb girdle type.
Myotonic dystrophy.
Congenital muscular dystrophy.
