When seeking editorial coverage, it is unlikely that you will need to supply a review copy of the ebook, but you will likely be asked to supply a cover image and a photo of yourself, so it’s good to have these already as part of your media toolkit.
If you are interviewed by a newspaper or magazine then make sure you promote the review by letting us know, but also use the review on your website and on your social media pages too.
How to send review copies of ebooks
Before starting to offer review copies of your ebook, we suggest speaking to the ebook department at Matador so that you can work out the best way to send review copies to reviewers.
Unlike printed books, you can’t simply post a review copy of your ebook to a potential reviewer.We don’t advise that you send your ebook file (usually in ePub format) via email to reviewers as it will be an unprotected file and easy to copy and share – leaving you open to piracy and lost sales.The best way is to discover what ereading device the reviewer prefers and either e-gift the book or use one of
 iBooks Promotional Tokens
The ebook team at Matador can create up to 250 promotional ‘tokens’ for you, which can then be emailed to reviewers who you want to read the book. Each token has its own unique code and can only be used once. They allow the recipient to download a free copy of your ebook from Apple’s iBooks store. These tokens are a great way for you to be able to send free copies of your ebook to reviewers, but the reviewers will have to have an iBooks account to redeem the token.Your ebook controller will have to access the iBooks promotional codes for you – so please ask if you want these.
