Is Sanatan Dharma relevant today?
Can I Practice it in Other Countries? Can
a Non-Hindu Practice it? Why is Hindu
Dharma the Only Logical and Scientific
Way of Life?
“I want my children to follow our Hindu
culture. But they say it is not applicable to
the modern world. How can I explain it to
them?”
"Everything about our Hindu practices
appears confusing, complicated and
contradicting. It cannot be practiced in the
modern context and in the developed
world...”
"I want to bring my child up in the path of
Sanatan Dharma. In our country, the
systems and life style are totally different.
So how can I bring up my children
according to Hinduism?”
These are the gist of some letters, e-mails
and messages that I get from lot of NRI
parents, especially those who are working
in non-democratic countries.
The only requisite to follow Sanatan

Dharma is logical reasoning and
scientific temperament. The very meaning
of 'Sanatan' is eternal, natural and
everlasting. 'Dharma' is law, duty and
responsibility. There is no confusion or
contradiction.
"The TRUE practice of our Dharma has
nothing to do with time, age, place,
space, culture, country and religion. It has
nothing to do with caste, creed, color,
boundaries or ideologies. It can be
practiced everywhere and anywhere,
anytime" I used to reply to all.
Avantika Subramanian from Riyad
recently asked me if I can simplify it in
layman's language.
"Every human being is a unique
expression - just like the finger prints. No
two persons are similar. Everybody is
perfect with his/her imperfections. So we
cannot compare two human beings. Isn't
this the basic principle of life?" I asked.
"Yes Uday, I agree, it's scientific" she
said: "I know comparison would mostly
end up with dangerous emotions -
jealousy, hatred, anger. Comparison will
make life unhappy”
"So, our ancestors (7000 years ago) said
it would be better letting people do things
and live according to their taste, ability
and skills. They said the classification of
society should be based on actions
(karma) and nature of a person (guna).
When everyone is dedicated to his work
(action) and doing it happily, that will lead
to the well-being of healthy society and
