Ryken knew that Father Van Beek would gladly train
the Brothers in his new method.
On February 17, 1838, Ryken called at the rectory,
as directed, for his letter, and in it he read Bishop Ro-
sati's recommendation that the Bishop of Bruges "will
deign for the future to favor his [Ryken's] design with
the pastoral and fatherly care with which- he has a-lleady
so afiectionately cherished it. As for usi if Providence
deign to send us Brothers, we will aftectionately embrace
them."
