SPORT PORT: FREE SPORTS
EQUIPMENT LENDING
The Pontiac Public Library is the
official location for lending sports
equipment through Sport Port- a
program to encourage free play
and sports sampling. The library
has individual items and sports
kits available for check out. The
collection contains the following kits:
badminton, pickleball, flag football,
volleyball, baseball and soccer. There
are also the following items: softballs,
mitts, hurdles, basketballs, footballs,
soccer balls, pop-up goals and agility
ladders. Patrons can check out the
equipment at the library and through
library outreach efforts this summer at
local parks and other locations where the Y on the Fly Van from YMCA will be doing pop-up programs. Contact the library to reserve a kit or other equipment. Project Play: Southeast Michigan is driven and funded by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation’s Youth Sports & Recreation focus area in partnership with the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan and the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program.
CINCO DE MAYO AT THE LIBRARY
On May 5th the Pontiac Public Library is sponsoring 200 free tacos from Martes Del Taco Truck. There will also be Latin music by a local band. The outdoor event will be in the Library parking lot and Pavilion from 4pm-7pm on May 5th!
