2015 Beneit Guide
Short Term Short Term Disability Benefits
and Long Term Short Term Disability (STD) insurance provides inancial protection
(by paying all or a portion of your income while you are disabled).
Disability ASARCO provides STD insurance to all eligible employees after
completing six months of continuous service beginning from date of
hire. Your disability and/or FMLA must be certiied through our leave
management vendor, MATRIX at (866) 533-3438.
Your STD beneits may run concurrently with your approved Family
Medical Leave (FMLA) if you are eligible. Disability pay may be
available up to 180 days (six months) due to a non-work related injury.
Beneit payments are determined by years of service as illustrated
below.

If you are not actively at work on the irst day following six
months of employment, your Short Term Disability will be
postponed until you return to work at least one (1) day of full-
time work.
Long Term Disability Benefits
Long Term Disability (LTD) beneits are provided after STD beneits
are exhausted. LTD beneits are available after 180 days of disability.
You may receive a beneit based on 50% of your basic annual salary
(less other income beneits). If your monthly LTD beneit is reduced
by other income beneits, such as worker’s compensation or Social
Security beneits, the minimum monthly beneit will be the greater of
$100 or 10% of the monthly beneit before deduction of other income
beneits. LTD claims may be subject to pre-existing conditions review
if disability occurs during the irst 12 months after date of hire.
