spend days weaving your way in and out of the museums, galleries, shops and eateries

on the Waterfront. As one of four Tate locations across the UK, Tate Liverpool is the

home of modern art in the city, while the Merseyside Maritime Museum tells the story of
Liverpool’s deep connection to the sea. Get to know Paul, Ringo, John and George and

find out more about the city’s most legendary band at the Beatles Story. The collection

comprises photographs and personal items as well as interviews and recording studio

replicas of Liverpool’s most famous musical sons, so you’re likely to walk in, and sing

and dance out. For eats and drinks nearby, try Spanish spot Lunyalita, the Mexican bar
and kitchen Madre and Peaberry Kitchen, an all-day bistro.

            Building bridges: Baltic Triangle
Like a red-bricked jungle full of imposing chimney-chugging factories, what was the

former industrial heartland of the city is now a hipster haven. Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle

is all hole-in-the-wall cafés and bakeries, craft breweries, creative offices, digital

upstarts and club nights, with street art on every corner and live music never far from

            earshot.

Based around Jamaica Street and Cains Brewery Village, the Baltic Triangle is also a

trove of restaurants and bars. Stop by Fodder Canteen for slap-up plates of the local dish

known as “scouse” (a bit like Irish stew), grab a cortado at Ditto Coffee Roasters and

don’t miss Baltic Bakehouse for a sourdough fix. Stoop your head into “hidden” bar Sub

Rosa for a cocktail, or take a tour of Love Lane Brewery, where you’ll find a craft beer

taproom and kitchen slinging Americana-inspired dishes as well as a gin school
experience in which you get to distil your own bottle.

Michelin-listed Manifest is one of the best restaurants in the area, set in a warehouse and

specialising in small plates with big, seasonal flavours. At its unmissable heart is the

city’s premier street-food spot, Baltic Market. Find everything from gyros and spicy

Thai to wood-fired pizza and bubble waffles, while the handy QR code app allows you

to order a feast direct to your table.
