P. 9
Starting with the cab of a ’40 Ford pickup, he
chopped it eight inches and channeled it over the frame
another four. There are no bags so he needed to get it
as low as possible on his own. The bed is a cut down
Chevy box from the late ‘40’s. Completing the body are
the grille and headlights from a ’37 Hudson Terraplane,
easily one of the most identifi able front ends of any
prewar vehicle.
Everything sits on a Speedway T-bucket chassis,
which was not modifi ed in any way. Up front is the
four-inch drop axle that came with the chassis, while
a 9-inch Ford handles rearend duties. It rolls on Ford
wires. Drums on all four wheels provide plenty of whoa
to bring Roy’s ’40 to a stop.
