manager. I had no idea what an event planner was, but I came to find
that it was a job made in heaven.
It was the perfect job for me because it was like planning a party
at someone else’s expense. The government hired me to identify
hotels and arrange the logistics of bringing people together. The
exposure allowed me to travel across the United States and stay at
some of the best and finest five-star hotels. I have planned meetings
for many senior high-level government officials including a branch of
the Office of the White House. I was like a kid at a party. I was around
some of the most powerful decision-makers in the world. I would
never have imagined a small-town girl like me would be at the pulse
of the world.
Based on the vision God had given me owning my own business,
I began my preparation from that day forward. I started by learning
and understanding the game of running a business. My strongest gift
is that I have strong people and customer service skills. I received that
from my daddy. Daddy could go anywhere and become a magnet to
people. I would always sit back in awe as I watched him work a room
and the way he made people know they had made a friend. I used that
same skill that was modeled for me, to begin to build and establish
relationships with my clients and peers. They became my extended
family, and I understood I had to control my destiny, I also
understood those clients would determine my employment.
