In addition to her diligent efforts with Top Teens, Kennedy is active at school and church. While serving, Kennedy has
maintained high academic standards in the International Baccalaureate Program at Thornwood High School. She is ranked
in the top five of her graduating class, is an active member of the National Honor Society and has been recognized as an
Illinois State Scholar. When the news of Hurricane Houston was communicated, Kennedy participated by collecting
items of clothing, packing boxes and loading trucks for the victims in need of relief. Her humanitarian efforts also
stretched to South Dakota, where she served as a camp counselor to the Native Indian youth, by sharing in teaching the
Bible, arts and crafts projects, and recreational activities.

We congratulate the teens of the South Suburban Chicago Chapter on a great program year and job well done!

~Will County Black DiamondChapter~

To honor the philosophy of Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr., the Will
County Black Diamond Chapter of
Top Teens, along with the Top
Ladies, participated in a Dr.King Jr.
Day of Service. He has inspired
millions of people to promote
unity and to give back to their
communities. On Saturday, January
20, 2018, the WCBD Chapter
served at the Children’s Hunger
Fund in Homewood, Illinois. As
part of their mission, the Children’s
Hunger Fund works to combat
poverty by providing food to
children and families across
America and around the world. The
WCBD Ladies and Teens spent the
morning packing items for Food
Paks. Food Paks are boxes filled with
food staples to supplement the needs of
families.

Dr.King stated, “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.” The WCBD Chapter continues to work towards

some of the most pressing problems facing our youth and adults by helping to make a difference in the lives of others,

their communities and helping achieve Dr.King’s vision of a beloved community. 62
