How to Make Es Kacang Merah





          Directions : Read the following text.

          Ingredients:
               500 grams red beans
               1,500 ml water

               1/2 teaspoon salt

               5 pandan leaves
               3 tablespoons cocoa powder
               1.5 tablespoons cornstarch

               100 grams palm sugar
               65 ml instant coconut milk

               150 grams granulated sugar
               Shaved ice, as needed

               Syrup, as needed
               Sweetened condensed milk (optional)



          Steps:

             1.Soak the red beans overnight to soften them.
            2.Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the soaked red beans, salt,

               and pandan leaves, then cook until the beans are tender.
             3.Dissolve the cocoa powder in warm water until smooth.

            4.In a separate bowl, dissolve the cornstarch with warm water.
            5.Once the beans are tender, add the palm sugar, granulated sugar, and

               cocoa mixture. Continue cooking until the liquid reduces.
             6.When the liquid has reduced, pour in the coconut milk and stir evenly.

             7.Gradually add the cornstarch mixture while stirring continuously until the
               mixture thickens.

             8.When the mixture begins to bubble, remove it from the heat and allow it to
               cool.

             9.Serving: Place a spoonful of the red bean mixture into a bowl. Add shaved
               ice as desired.

            10.Drizzle with syrup and sweetened condensed milk to enhance the flavor.
            11.The traditional Palembang red bean ice is now ready to be served.
