The Fans

Michael Jackson maintained loyal, devoted fans who sup-
ported him, encouraged him and showered him with their love
and affection throughout the child molestation allegations.
Polls were taken by mainstream media and it was determined
that more than 65% said they would still buy Michael Jackson's
music; 80% did not believe the allegations of child molesta-
tion; 70% did not believe the allegations would affect his ca-
reer; and more than 76% said they believed Michael Jackson
would maintain his status in the future.
The outpouring of support for Michael Jackson by his mil-
lions of fans around the world was overwhelming. Fans poured
out their love and support for him through his many Websites,
fan clubs, international clubs, and they continued to buy his
products and attend his concerts in record numbers, even while
the investigation was ongoing. All the love Michael Jackson
gave to the world, his fans gave back to him by jamming phone
lines to express their love and continued support for Michael
Jackson; jamming into the stadiums in record numbers to show
their support of his concerts. It was even reported that his fans
surrounded his hotel during the Dangerous Tour singing Heal
The World.
On Michael Jackson's 35th birthday in August, 1993, forty-
seven thousand of his fans attended his concert, even with
threats of monsoon rains. They showered him with love chants
and sang happy birthday to him in the middle of the concert,
moving Michael Jackson to tears. In spite of the cancellations
