Taylor's role of devoted friend was instrumental in helping
Michael Jackson cope during this very difficult, highly public
moment in his life. When the film industry called her the most
beautiful lady in the industry, we all thought they were talk-
ing about her outer beauty. She demonstrated the real beauty
of a person lies within. Her unwavering support of Michael
Jackson in front of the world also demonstrated her loyalty as
a friend. Elizabeth Taylor dropped her hectic schedule to be
by Michael Jackson's side, giving him guidance and advice.
Her courage and support of Michael Jackson during this or-
deal helped me to realize that despite the viciousness that goes
on in the world today, despite all the hate, injustice and preju-
dices, there are still decent human beings of all races who know
the true meaning of love.
The Jackson family united in a press release stating their
"...belief that Michael was being made the victim of a cruel
and obvious attempt to take advantage of his fame and suc-
cess... that he has dedicated his life to providing happiness to
young people everywhere... Our entire family stands firmly at
his side."
Many loyal friends publicly expressed their support for
Michael Jackson during this ordeal by stating that Michael Jack-
son was, "incapable of hurting a child." Michael Jackson flew
one of his fans, a 15 5 year old Dutch boy who was undergoing
chemotherapy for cancer and his two brothers, to Japan to at-
tend his concert. He was referred by the Make A Wish Foun-
dation where the boy wished to meet Michael Jackson.
The loyal support of family, friends, fans and sponsors such
as Sony Music and Pepsi, proved to the world that Michael
Jackson is more than an entertainer. He represents hope, love,
inspiration and joy to a world plagued with so much destitu-
tion, sickness, hunger and destruction. Michael Jackson said it
all with his song, We Are The World. He kept millions of people
aware of the need to help one another, starting with you and
me, and to heal the world with love.
