REDEMPTION -
attorney's office near my desk. I overhead Mr. Rothman tell
Dr. Chandler that they needed "to meet over the weekend"
and talk before speaking to the investigator to "make sure our
stories are the same." That was the reason for the emergency
meeting that Mr. Rothman asked Dr. Chandler to make him-
self available over the weekend.
At this point Mr. Rothman was more nervous than careful.
He seemed to forget that he was not in his office behind closed
doors while having this conversation.
The secret meetings continued between Mr. Rothman and
Dr. Chandler until the end of my employment. One afternoon
Dr. Chandler came to Mr. Rothman's office late, approximately
5:45 P.M., 15 minutes before my shift ended and they immedi-
ately went into the conference room behind closed doors. There
was something unusual about this particular meeting. The
meeting lasted past my shift-end, so although I wanted to stay
and find out what was going on, instead, I went home about
6:00 P.M.
I was extremely curious about the purpose for this im-
promptu meeting, so before I left I walked over to the door
and tried to listen to their conversation. They were speaking
in a low tone and I could not hear their conversation. I walked
back to my computer, afraid someone would open the door
and find me standing outside. I then got the courage to walk
back over to the door and overheard Mr. Rothman telling Dr.
Chandler in a loud voice that, "...we just have to stick to the
plan... we cannot deviate from the plan."
