What It Really Takes to Lose Weight:
Weight loss is oen overcomplicated when it doesn’t have to be. It can be put into one simple
equaon.
Energy Output > Energy Intake Or Energy Output is greater than Energy Intake
In other words, Energy Intake (the food eaten daily) needs to be less than the energy expended
daily for the body to lose weight. This is called a calorie deficit. To put simply, eat less food than
the energy you exert. If an individual wanted to put on weight, they could use the same
equaon but in reverse.
For example, you would need to eat more energy (food) than expended daily. Thus, pung you
into a calorie surplus causing weight gain. And finally, if someone wanted to maintain their
weight, they would need to consume the same number of calories that they expend daily. The
energy of food is commonly measured with one of the two units: calories or kilojoules. Don’t
worry if this doesn’t make sense right now, we cover this in more detail throughout the Ebook.
