GENERAL INFORMATION
Continuous Weld
> Weld locations vary A regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) is an industrial process that
> See engineering standard E1-14 destroys air pollutants emitted from process exhaust. These gas
streams are usually produced by industrial process ventilation, i.e.
Seal Weld paint booths, printing, and paper mills. Fans are tested at the shop
> Weld locations vary with a Soap Bubble Test to check for leaks.
> See engineering standard E1-14
- Fan Construction
Gasketing > Solid drive side on housing (no drive plates)
> Double gaskets required > Bolted connections must have close centered hole patterns
(3” to 4” centers) Includes: inlet and outlet flanges, access
doors, cover plates, inlet funnels, split housings, etc.
Shaft Seal > Not recommended for applications over 600 F
o
> Dampers (if required) must have stuffing boxes
Pedestal Foot Gussets
- Gasketing
> Use silicone sponge & silicone caulk
Centering Plates > Use on all connections: inlet/outlet flanges, funnel, inlet
plate, access doors, split housing, etc.
> If constructed with a split housing, centering plates are
required to seal open areas by shaft seals and inlet funnel or
inlet plate
- Shaft Seals
> Friction type
> Single Carbon Ring type
> Commercially available carbon ring or others seal
- Special Requirements (sales to specify)
> Pedestal – Concrete requirements
> Fan Base – Construction based on how fan will be mounted
in field
> Fan Operation (VFD, Cycling, Bake Out conditions)
