4. The Kinds of Noun

There are six kinds of nouns–

1. Proper noun 4. Material noun

2. Common noun Kinds of 5. Abstract noun
Nouns
3. Collective noun 6. Possessive noun

We read only four types of noun in this class.

1. Proper Noun:

Read the following sentences:

1. We live in India .

2. I live in Delhi .

3. Neha sang sweetly.

4. Rohan is my friend.

India is the name of one particular

country, and is therefore called a proper

noun.

Meerut is the name of a particular city, and is therefore called a proper
noun.

Similarly, Neha is the name of a particular girl, and is therefore called a

proper noun.

Rohan is the name of one particular boy.

So, Rohan is called a proper noun .
