Introduction

• 2018 was the 75 anniversary year of the charity and surely
th
there would have been no better time for their Founder and the

original mascot character bear to make a celebrity appearance?

• When the question of his whereabouts came up it was realised

that ‘The Bear’ had been absent for so long he was forgotten.

• A new small Bear mascot is now the regular mascot and one of

them was carried for over1,000 miles by the Author during his
cycling in a #My75miles fundraising campaign for the charity.

He was recovering from a lung cancer operation that had cost
him two lobes of his right lung. He sought only a reunion with

the Founder Bear at the end of his cycling. He raised £1,788.66.
for the Charity riding in the ‘Bear’s team for nearly 1,500 miles.

• Charity HQ ‘thought’ that the bear had been given away by

mistake a long time ago! It didn’t seem very plausible to the
Author who was then blocked but he couldn’t easily move on.

• Could Founder Bear be found? If so could he be found in time

for a Christmas Party and/or join in a 21 Birthday party for the
Official Mascot, at Jubilee House, in December?

• Would Bear’s cycling team keep a podium position into 2019?

• Would ‘Founder Bear’ the original mascot ever be seen again?
