Gender has to do with socially determined roles, responsibilities, behaviour,

characteristics of women and men in a given society and/or culture.

Gender equality is a concept that promotes the fact that rights, responsibilities

and opportunities offered are not determined by the sex of individuals. It implies
equal access to opportunities by focusing on the individual’s capabilities and

usefulness.

Gender issues are therefore purely societal and should not be confused with

God’s divine instructions, thereby claiming equality or fighting inequality.

The Bible says God created them male and female. In Gen.3:16b it says; and thy

desire shall be to thy husband and he shall rule over thee. And to our main text
that says wives should submit to their own husbands.

As stated earlier, submission should be seen as a responsibility given by God to be
carried out. So, no contention as to who is equal to who.

Conclusion

Respect and submission must be seen as part of our lives (everyday and in
everything we do). Rules, regulations, authorities, leaders, people’s opinions etc

must be respected by all and if you can make up your mind to do this, then
submission can become easier.

Submission is an act of giving out oneself in obedience to God’s instruction that
can yield unbelievable results, so ask for more grace to keep giving. It does not
however mean that you throw away your dreams and visions, but that you

mutually and respectfully discuss and carry them out.
