transitional words create a bridge between paragraphs that suggests
that you have discussed a related idea in the preceding paragraph.

Because you are adding an idea to the ones you have already

discussed, the transitional words you use will be transitions of

addition: also, another, next, an additional (reason, factor, way).

Sentences

Doing something for someone else is another way to shake a

bad mood.

Some teenagers’ unwillingness to use birth control also

contributes to the high rate of teen pregnancy.

The first step in resolving a conflict is to define the issues

involved.

Expressions in Topic Sentences

Rewrite the following topic sentences using a transitional word or

phrase. The word or phrase you choose will depend on whether the

sentence is a topic sentence for the first body paragraph, the second
body paragraph, or the last body paragraph, but it should be a

transition of addition.
