Process Essay 2: The Process of Change
Change can be difficult, and the process of coping with it is not always
easy. Think of a change or transition that was difficult for you and
describe in a five-paragraph essay your process of coping with it.
Process Essay 3: The Right Start
Write an essay directed at someone who is just getting started in one
of the following processes.
starting a physical fitness program
beginning college
setting up a budget
trying to lose or gain weight
Essay-Based Assignment
Letty Cottin Pogrebin’s essay discusses superstition. How do you
think superstitions are formed? Write an essay that traces the
formation and use of a particular superstitious behavior. Just as an
example, if John, on a dare from his roommate, drinks five raw eggs
Rocky-style (unstirred, with yolks intact) for breakfast, then goes to a
job interview and is immediately hired, it might occur to him that
drinking raw eggs is lucky. Feeling a bit silly, he might drink raw eggs
in the same way before asking out an attractive woman. Before long,
poor John is afraid not to chug raw eggs before any important venture.
