In the wake of corporate accounting scandals, a ruling requiring
company executives to certify the accuracy of their company’s
financial records may help to restore public confidence (“First” 6A).
While early versions of the electronic pacemaker worked
continuously, newer versions react to the patient’s heartbeat and
turn on only when they are needed (“Pacemaker”).
Quote from an Interview or Reference to Another
Author’s Work.
Use the abbreviation qtd. in (for quoted in) if you are quoting or
paraphrasing someone who has been quoted in an interview. Also use
qtd. in when you paraphrase or quote one author’s paraphrase of
another author’s ideas, but only if you cannot obtain the original
source. In other words, if Author A writes an article that paraphrases
the ideas that Author B has written about, find Author B’s article and
use it as your source.
The example below is a paraphrase of an idea expressed by Holly
Shimizu, executive director of the United States Botanic Garden, in an
interview with Cassandra M. Vanhooser.
