In the wake of corporate accounting scandals, a ruling requiring

company executives to certify the accuracy of their company’s

financial records may help to restore public confidence (“First” 6A).

While early versions of the electronic pacemaker worked

continuously, newer versions react to the patient’s heartbeat and

turn on only when they are needed (“Pacemaker”).

Quote from an Interview or Reference to Another

               Author’s Work.

Use the abbreviation qtd. in (for quoted in) if you are quoting or

paraphrasing someone who has been quoted in an interview. Also use

qtd. in when you paraphrase or quote one author’s paraphrase of

another author’s ideas, but only if you cannot obtain the original
source. In other words, if Author A writes an article that paraphrases

the ideas that Author B has written about, find Author B’s article and

               use it as your source.

The example below is a paraphrase of an idea expressed by Holly

Shimizu, executive director of the United States Botanic Garden, in an
               interview with Cassandra M. Vanhooser.
