Do not use a title page. Instead, put your name, your instructor’s
name, your course name, and the date at the top of the first page,

each on a separate line, each line flush with the left margin. Center

the title above the first paragraph. This material, like the rest of

                    your paper, should be double-spaced.

               Referencing Sources within Your Paper

Within your paper, references to your sources are parenthetical

references, not footnotes. MLA style calls for very brief references
that interfere as little as possible with the flow of the text.

One thing to consider as you write your paper is whether to mention

an author’s name in the text of your paper or to put it in a parenthetical

reference. A good rule of thumb is to use the author’s name in the text
of your paper if you are discussing that author’s original research or

ideas. If the author is reporting a fact, as in a reference book, an

interview, or a news story, put the author’s name in a parenthetical

               reference.

The following examples show the MLA style of reference.

A Work by a Single Author.

If you have already used the author’s name in the sentence or

paragraph where the parenthetical reference occurs, use the page

               number(s) alone as a reference.
