agenda/meeting addressed at upcoming meetings, and minutes recap what
minutes was discussed and the decisions made at the meeting.
All the documents in this table will be discussed throughout the
remainder of this book.
The Executing Processes
The Executing processes are where the work of the project is performed. The project
manager must coordinate all the project team members as well as other resources
assigned to the project.
Executing processes include the actual execution of the project management plan,
team development, quality assurance, information distribution, and more. The key
activities in the Executing process are as follows:
Deliverables are produced and verified.
Deliverables are produced and verified during this process. If they do not conform to
expectations, change requests are entered or corrective actions are taken (both of
which occur in the Monitoring and Controlling processes) to ensure the deliverables
adhere to specifications.
Resource management is important during the Executing processes. You’ll acquire the
project team members during this process, make certain they are utilized
appropriately, and perform team-building activities. This process also includes
working with vendors and contractors who are external to the organization.
The Monitoring and Controlling Processes
The Monitoring and Controlling processes are the activities that monitor the progress
of the project to identify any variances from the project management plan. Requests
for changes to the project scope are included in this process group. This area is also
where corrective actions are taken to get the work of the project realigned to the
project plan.
Other areas of the Monitoring and Controlling phase include scope control, cost
control, schedule control, quality control, performance reporting, and risk control.
The key activities in the Monitoring and Controlling processes are as follows:
Monitoring the risks/issues log
Performance measuring and reporting
Performing quality assurance/governance activities
