Develop Project Charter process is grouped within the Initiating process group. It has

five inputs, two tools and techniques, and one output (the project charter).

Don’t be confused by terms. PMI calls these processes process groups,
whereas CompTIA calls them phases. They have the same outputs no matter what
they’re called. I will use the terms process groups and phases interchangeably
       throughout the book.

The process groups or phases are tightly linked. Outputs from one group usually

become inputs to another group. The groups may overlap, or you may find that you
have to repeat a set of processes within a process group. For example, as you begin
executing the work of the project, you may find that changes need to be made to the
project management plan. So, you may repeat some of the processes found in the
Planning process group and then reperform many of the Executing processes once the
changes to the plan are made. This is known as an iterative approach. Figure 3.1 shows
     the links between the groups.

As you learn about each group, notice the correlation between the process groups (or
phases) and the domains covered in the CompTIA Project+ exam. These phases are the

foundation of project management. You need to understand each group, its
characteristics, and how it contributes to delivering the final product, service, or result
     of the project.
