Anything as a Service (XaaS) This refers to any IT service delivered
over a network.

application programming interface (API) An API is a collection of
software routines used to interact with a software component.

application service provider (ASP) An ASP is an entity offering hosted

applications.

asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax) Ajax is a web development
technique allowing partial web page updating.

bandwidth This is the amount of data, over a period of time (normally
seconds), that can be transmitted between two points.

CAPEX This stands for capital expenditure.

cloud bursting This means using public cloud services (beyond private
cloud resources) during peak business times.

cloud computing Cloud computing consists of pooled computing resources
offered by a provider to customers over a network as a “pay-as-you-go”
model.

cloud elasticity This is the ability to quickly provision and deprovision IT
