Oh yes, you have one. It’s right there, carefully placed inside your
heart.
No longer accepting second-hand truths is not an easy change to
make. But it kind of rolls down by its own after you spark its momen-
tum. All it’s needed is a seed of doubt. Doubt that life, as it is pre-
sented to be by those around you, is as complicated and messy as it
seems. Doubt that love, the so-much-talked-about love, is as far and
as picky as society makes it out to be. Doubt that trust is so hard to
harvest and its yield so short in coming. Doubt that, basically, every-
thing you know about life was ever even true to begin with.
Do that, run wild.
Why? Because everything else but that, it’s completely wasteful. And
please, don’t take my word for it. Go out there and see for yourself.
See how productive fighting for peace is. See how rewarding blaming
others is. See how much sweetness can you squeeze from the rocks
of reason.
Run wild, even if it’s scary as hell.
Run wild, even if your mind pulls you back into the illusory arms of
plastic comfort.
Run wild, with only the promise of true love to warm your spirit when
the coldness of fear strikes.
Run wild, and it may be the last thing you’ll ever have to do.
For what awaits you upon your return, it’s too light for effort, too
loving for fear, and definitely too innocent for any kind of suffering.
