Jake Weimer struggled all day long in Atlanta. The RCH fill in rider hailing from Idaho seemed to have trouble adapting to the track in the Georgia Dome and it resulted in a subpar 18th qualifying effort. Weimer is resil-
ient and looked to find his groove in the night show.
Weimer was not able to find his groove in the heat race after he started a dismal 11th place. His heat race was loaded with other factory riders and he wasn’t able to find much room to move up in the pack and ended up finishing in 9th, which meant a trip to the semis. The semis would go just about the same for Weimer as he got another bad start and had to dig deep if he wanted to avoid a trip to the LCQ. He started picking riders off one by one before he locked his eyes on Friese
for the final transfer. Weimer got close enough to try a pass on Friese in the final corner but he would go down and lose a few spots and have to head to the LCQ. The LCQ went much better for Weimer. He grabbed the holeshot and cruised to an easy win and a ticket to the main event.
The rough night for Weimer continued in the main event where he would suffer a bad start and never recover. He started out in 18th and would end up only picking up one spot resulting in a 17th place finish. Weimer took a step back in Atlanta and he will look to return to form next weekend at the always-unique Daytona SX.
